The GLBT National
Help Center provides help and resources for GLBT and questioning
individuals in times of need. The main way it does this is through it's youth
talkline. Call the line at 1-800-246-PRIDE to talk to a trained volunteer.
Parents
and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is an organization with a mission
to "celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone,
including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities."
They have over 500 chapters across the United States and is a great place to send your folks!
The Trevor
Project is a suicide helpline geared towards gay teens. This is important
because GLBT adolescents may be even more likely to commit or attempt suicide
than are non-gay teens. Get help 24 hours a day through their website or by
calling, 1-866-4-U-Trevor.
Organizations Serving Youth Which Run Programs for
GLBT Teens
Advocates
for Youth fights for reproductive and sexual health through education and
advocacy. They also run websites specifically designed for GLBT teens and
Latino GLBT youth.
The
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) works to protect your right to free
speech, due process and privacy. They run many different programs including
something called the LGBT Project's Youth & Schools Program. This works to
make public schools safe for gay teens.
Rape Assault &
Incest National Network (RAINN) is dedicated to providing sexual assault
support, resources and education. You can call the Rape Abuse Incest National
